Effective OCD Treatment Requires a Specialized Approach
Living with OCD or distressing intrusive thoughts, you may have already tried to think your way out of distress, seek reassurance, or avoid situations that trigger fear — only to find that relief does not last.
If this pattern feels familiar, it does not mean you are doing something wrong. It reflects how OCD operates — and the good news is that effective, specialized treatment exists.
Research consistently shows that Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is the most effective treatment for OCD and related anxiety disorders. OCD Freedom Project provides specialized ERP therapy for adults and teens with OCD across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC.

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
The Gold-Standard in OCD Treatment
In Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), we gradually and collaboratively face situations and uncertainties that OCD has taught you to avoid while reducing compulsive and reassurance-seeking responses that keep the cycle going.
ERP is structured, active work completed together. Rather than eliminating fear, treatment focuses on responding differently so OCD no longer determines your choices and daily life can expand again.
Recovery does not require eliminating uncertainty — it involves learning that you can live well in its presence.

Why OCD Freedom Project
If you recognize yourself in these descriptions, you are not alone — OCD Freedom Project was created as a specialist practice dedicated exclusively to treating OCD and related conditions using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Treatment may also draw on advanced training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) when OCD occurs alongside significant emotional or trauma-related challenges.
Many people arrive in treatment believing their struggles need to be managed privately or solved alone. Specialized OCD care helps people recognize that these experiences follow known, treatable patterns shared by others facing similar challenges.
This focused specialization keeps treatment structured, individualized, and grounded in current research while fostering a collaborative community of care. Clients build practical skills, strengthen self-trust, and learn new ways of responding to uncertainty so that freedom from OCD’s control continues long after therapy ends.
